Cylinder seal

Archaeological excavations at the Tavşanlı Mound in the western province of Kütahya's Tavşanlı district have unearthed a 3,700-year-old cylinder seal in a layer dating back to the end of the Assyrian Trade Colonies period.

The seal that excited the archaeological world is expected to fill an important gap in Anatolia's trade history.

Excavations carried out at Aççana mound in the Reyhanlı district of the southern province of Hatay unearthed some 3,250-year-old seal impressions and 3,400-year-old tablets. The artifacts belong to the Hittite prince, according to officials.

A 3,250-year-old seal belonging to a Hittite prince and an ancient cuneiform tablet dating back 3,400 years were discovered in Turkey's southern Hatay province.

The excavations in Accana Hoyuk of the Reyhanli district in Hatay on behalf of the Culture and Tourism Ministry with the support of the Turkish Historical Society, have been underway for six months.

The Gaziantep Archaeology Museum, where the Roman-era clay seal impressions, which is the world's largest collection of clay seal impressions from the ancient city of Zeugma, and the skeletal remains of the extinct Maraş Elephant, are on display, offers the opportunity to examine the history of Anatolia in chronological order.
