French fund can prove a game-changer for Cyprus-Greece power linkup
The deal concerning the Greece-Cyprus power link, between Greece's Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE) and French investment fund Meridiam, reported by Bloomberg on Thursday, was on Friday confirmed by Kathimerini, citing sources from Paris. However, neither party has officially announced the agreement yet.
Petrolina acquires Esso in Cyprus
Petrolina has successfully acquired ExxonMobil Cyprus Limited, the company behind the Esso brand in Cyprus, for 48.6 million euros. This deal, which was finalized on Wednesday through PHL's fully owned subsidiary, Med Energywise, marks a significant expansion for Petrolina in the local oil market.

Wellington Management acquires 4.75% of Bank of Cyprus
The fund, Wellington Management Group, has acquired around 21 million shares in the Bank of Cyprus.
This is a 4.75% stake in the bank, as the fund participated in the recent placement for 4.8% of the share capital, where the liquidator of Laiki Bank made available a package of 21.5 million shares in total.
Aegean Airlines continues to stretch its wings further
Aegean Airlines surpassed 12.5 million passengers in the first nine months of 2024, marking a 5% increase from the previous year.
In the third quarter alone, the airline carried over 5.3 million passengers, maintaining consistently high traffic levels, having offered 6.3 million seats, a 2% increase from last year.
Larnaca passengers moving fast
In July and August, 98.9% and 97.8% of passengers, respectively, have been served at security checks in less than 10 minutes at Larnaca Airport, while at the passport control points at departures, for EU/EEA/UK/Swiss citizens, the figures were 87.6% and 90.8% for the respective months, Cyprus' Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works has said.

Airline routes between Cyprus and China increase
Cyprus and China have reached a new agreement to allow more flights between the two countries, aiming to boost tourism, trade and business cooperation.
The deal was signed on Thursday by Cyprus' Civil Aviation Director Panagiota Demetriou and Han Joo from China's Civil Aviation Administration, during a ceremony in Nicosia.

Cyprus hits record high in August arrivals
Tourist arrivals in Cyprus reached an all-time high for August this year, with 554,923 visitors, surpassing the previous record set in August 2019 by 0.20%, according to data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat) on Tuesday.
Compared to August last year, there was an 8.5% increase.

Bank of Cyprus plans to switch to Athens listing from London next month
Bank of Cyprus will switch its stock market listing to Athens from London next month, subject to shareholder and regulatory approval, the lender has said.
The bank has called a shareholders meeting in Nicosia on September 13 to approve the move, it said, adding that the company plans to list its shares on the Athens Stock Exchange on September 23.
