Prime Minister Victor Ponta congratulated on Friday the Romanian members of the European Parliament nominated for the annual prize awarded by 'The Parliament Magazine.'

Prime Minister Victor Ponta, running for president of Romania in Sunday's polls under the banner of the Alliance of the Social Democrats, the National Union for the Progress of Romania and the Conservatives (PSD-UNPR-PC), said early in the day he had voted because 'after ten years of war and destruction', the time of reconstruction has come.

Social Democrat Party (PSD) senator Eugen Teodorovici has expressed, on Tuesday, his conviction that Daciana Sarbu, Mircea Diaconu and Corina Cretu will be good ambassadors for Romania in the new positions they have taken in the European Parliament.

Organic farming, sustainable development of the mountain area and its attractiveness, and support for the small farmers were the main topics discussed on the meeting that Prince Charles had on Saturday with MEP Daciana Sarbu, recently elected for another term as a member of the European Parliament.

MEP Daciana Sarbu voted on Sunday at School No. 17 in Bucharest, along with Prime Minister Victor Ponta and their daughter Irina.

"I have voted with the conviction that wonderful things can be done for our country," said Daciana Sarbu, adding that she hoped as many people as possible would turn out to elect their representatives in the EP.

With one month to go before European elections in Romania, the candidates of 15 parties and alliances and eight independent candidates are gearing up to compete for the elections on 25 May.

Romania will have 32 seats in the future European Parliament, compared to 33 at present.
