Shipping Prohibited in Bulgarian Section of Danube River

Shipping in the Bulgarian section of the Danube has been prohibited, announced Captain Toni Todorov, director of river Supervision - Lom with the Marine Administration.

The order entered into force on Tuesday at 12:00 hrs.

Captain Todorov announced that all ships passing at the moment through the Bulgarian section must dock at the nearest port.

110 Kg of Marijuana Discovered at Danube Bridge 2

110 kilogrammes of marijuana have been discovered during an inspection in the area of Danube Bridge 2 Vidin-Kalafat via the joint efforts of Bulgarian and Romanian customs and police authorities.

The drug was hidden in a vehicle leaving the country, driven by a 26-year old Bulgarian citizen, announced the Customs Agency.

Bulgaria-Romania Danube Bridge Closed

The Danube Bridge between Bulgaria and Romania has been closed for two hours.

The Bulgarian Specialised Prosecutor's Office and the Romanian Prosecutor's Office are carrying out an inspection, reported BGNES.

Border police are being checked for bribes on both the Bulgarian and the Romanian side.

The inspection is ongoing.

Danube Bridge To Operate on Afternoons Only on October 21-23

Due to technical testing of the Danube bridge on the Romanian side, the facility will not operate between 7:25 hrs and 12:20 hrs in the period October 21-23, reported the Road Infrastructure Agency.

Traffic on the bridge will be halted for the carrying out of tests of the load on the road part of the bridge after the extensive renovation works implemented there.
