The Greek stock market closed Monday’s (21/10) session with losses, but far from the daily lows. Interest was monopolized by Attica Bank, whose trading was temporarily suspended a few minutes after it returned to the board, following a short-day trading halt due to the 100:1 reverse split.

The Athens Stock Exchange followed global bearish trends and dropped nearly 3% Friday. Weak US economic results announced Thursday and Friday created a sense of panic among investors that inevitably spread to the ATHEX. 

The general index closed at 1,430.90 points, down 2.95%, near intraday lows. Turnover was €124.23 million.

The Greek stock market closed Wednesday’s (31/7) session on a positive note, with the banking sector giving its back, stopping a six-day downward trend that had cost it -5.26%.
