PKK bomb attack kills three policemen in Turkey's southeast
Militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) detonated a roadside bomb in the southeastern province of ??rnak overnight, killing three police officers and wounding four others in an armored vehicle, security sources said Jan. 18.

One policeman was killed and five others were injured during a counter-terrorism operation targeting outlawed PKK militants in the southeastern province of ??rnak on Dec. 31, 2015.
Security forces were conducting operations to fill in ditches and dissemble barricades in the Cizre district, which is under curfew, security sources said.

Security forces have killed 55 militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in operations in Turkey's southeastern districts over the past three days, while one soldier has been killed in clashes on Dec. 18, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Turkish Airlines cancels flights to southeastern ??rnak amid clashes
Turkish Airlines has announced on its website that flights to Turkey's southeastern ??rnak province will be cancelled for a second day on Dec. 16 amid curfews and clashes.
"Flights listed below have been cancelled due to operational reasons," the airlines announced in a message to its customers with tickets to ??rnak.
Cizre becomes ghost town amidst clashes
The southeastern town of Cizre has become a ghost town following clashes during a 12-hour curfew imposed for military operations against outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, which left one police officer killed.

Not even a lie
We have seen many times in the recent past sad examples in the name of democracy of how a submissive justice can turn into a weapon in the hands of political powers. When a physical attack was not enough, the justice weapon has now turned to daily Hürriyet. The target is freedom of expression and freedom of the press.

Cizre residents bury dead after curfew ends
Thousands of relatives and mourners marched through the center of the mainly-Kurdish southeastern city of Cizre on Sept. 13 to bury over a dozen people who lost their lives in clashes during a nine-day Turkish army imposed curfew.
The mourners carried the coffins of 16 people to a funeral ceremony before their burial.
