Fewer tourists come to Santa Claus Museum

The Santa Claus (Noel Baba) Museum and the ancient city of Myra, located in the southern province of Antalya's Demre district, received half as many visitors and revenues in January year-on-year.

One the most visited places in Antalya and its vicinity, the Santa Claus Museum, received 9,483 visitors and earned 93,120 Turkish Liras in January 2014.

Santa Claus Museum most popular among Antalya tourists

The Santa Claus Museum in Antalya's Demre is the most visited place by tourists, especially the French, in the whole region. It is followed by the ancient city of Myra In the first nine months of 2014, 2.6 million Turkish and foreign people visited the ancient sites in the southern province of Antalya. It is expected that this figure reached 2.8 million by the end of the year.
 

The state of the Turkish economy

Santa Claus is a citizen of Turkey – or he would have been if he was living today. In the third century, he was known as Saint Nicholas of Myra, today’s city of Demre in the province of Antalya. So he was one of us. Yet Santa brings no gifts to his fellow citizens this year. Instead, a pattern is now emerging around the Turkish economy for the year to come.

Glittery glory

Last Saturday was the day of our good old man from Demre, south of Turkey, who turned about to be the most beloved man of the children, St Nicholas aka Santa Claus. Dec. 6 is believed to be the day the saint had passed away, and the day is dedicated to commemorate his benevolent being.

Top 10: Turkey’s most visited museums

The Culture Ministry has announced that a total of 20,269,000 people visited Turkish museums and historic sites in the first eight months of 2014. The total number throughout the whole of 2013 was 29,481,000. Here is the list of the top 10 most visited museums in Turkey, according to the latest figures:
1) Topkapı Palace, Istanbul: 3,760,548 visitors
