'Mustang' honored by EU parliamentarians
"Mustang" has been picked by European parliamentarians as the winner of the 2015 Lux Film Prize.
Directed by French-Turkish filmmaker Deniz Gamze Ergüven, the film tells the story of how five Turkish sisters living with their grandmother after their parents' death try to escape forced marriage.

We were lovers, says Turkish singer's murderer, victim's family denies claims
The murderer of well-known Turkish singer and songwriter De?er Deniz who was found raped and brutally murdered at her house in Istanbul's Taksim neighborhood late May 5, changed his initial testimony, instead claiming Deniz and he were lovers and he had killed the victim out of jealousy. Deniz's family, on the other hand, has denied this claim.

Turkish lira hits new low after deadly PKK attack
The Turkish Lira hit new lows against the U.S. dollar early Sept. 7, due to concern over Turkey's worsening security situation, after Kurdish militants carried out one of their deadliest bomb attacks on Turkish troops in years.
At 10:33 a.m., the lira stood at 3.0269 against the U.S. currency, after touching a low of 3.0475 overnight.

Long live Turkish justice
The Turkish leg of the Deniz Feneri (Lighthouse) charity embezzlement case, which a German court defined as "the theft of the century," had a happy ending.
If the Frankfurt court had not pointed out that "The real criminals are in Turkey," then we would not have had to wait this long for the happy ending; this case would have never been opened in the beginning anyway.

Turkish police have detained a 17-year-old man who has been accused of killing a well-known singer at her home in Istanbul.
The body of 39-year-old De?er Deniz was discovered by her younger brother when he had a locksmith open the door of her house in the Taksim neighborhood late May 5 after the singer?s family had been unable to contact her throughout the day.
