The Olympic flame is going for a sail.

Instead of arriving overland, the symbolic flame alighting the 2024 Paris Games will take to the seas from its birthplace in Greece, arriving aboard a three-masted tall ship in the French port of Marseille.

Paris organizers announced the flame's journey on Friday at City Hall in Marseille, a former Greek colony founded 2,600 years ago.

The Arc de Triomphe is the most popular landmark in France, topping the list of most visited sites in 2019, the website of Radio Europe 1 reported.

A large-scale manhunt has been launched in France for a suspected extremist gunman who shot at a Christmas market in Strasbourg, killing three people and injuring at least 12, reported the Independent.

The Carrousel Artshopping Contemporary Art Fair, which is organized every year in Paris by Louvre Museum, will be held this year on Oct. 19, 20 and 21. The Contemporary Turkish Artists Paris Association (ACT), which was established in 2015 in Paris to represent Turkish artists, will attend the fair again this year with 28 artists. 

PARIS:  A suburban train overturned outside Paris on Tuesday after days of downpours caused an embankment to collapse, slightly injuring seven people including a pregnant woman.

The accident happened just before 5am (0300 GMT) as the RER commuter train was heading for Paris between Saint-Remy-les-Chevreuse and Courcelle-sur-Yvette southwest of the French capital.

Hundreds of firefighters were battling blazes across southern France on Monday, with one inferno spreading across 900 hectors of forest and threatening homes on the island of Corsica, emergency services said.
