Eurostat: The Highest Rate of Severe Material Deprivation is in Bulgaria
The severe material deprivation of the Bulgarians over the past 30 years has become something normal, but when we have to compare ourselves with other European Union (EU) countries, the reality begins to takes on even more unpleasant dimensions. According to Eurostat, Bulgaria remains at the bottom in terms of the severe material deprivation rate.

Parliament Passed Higher Fines and Prison Sentences for Poachers
Parliament adopted at first reading higher fines and prison sentences for poachers. They were proposed by the United Patriot's parliamentary group with amendments to the Penal Code. The project provides for illegal catches in fishing waters with nets, use of explosives, etc. of the offenders to be fined from 200 to 1000 levs. At the moment the lower threshold is 100 levs.

About 30 percent of the Bulgarian population or nearly every third Bulgarian lives in a serious risk of poverty, according to Eurostat analysis of the share of people in severe material deprivation in the EU in 2017. The EU average indicator of people living in severe material deprivation , is 6.7 per cent.
