To the naked eye, the delicate velvet roses in southeastern Turkey appear black and overwhelm the senses with their irresistible sweet smell.

The rosebuds are just as dark, and when fully developed, the flower takes on the colour of an intensely rich red wine.

Some 400,000 people have visited the nation's first indigenous car named "Devrim," which means "Revolution" in English, since March 2018 in a museum in the northwestern province of Eskişehir, where it is on display.

The 60-year-old car, which had adorned the museum's garden in the open air for years amusing onlookers, has been on display inside a glass block for three years.

Şevval Devrim, a young athlete with autism, is working hard, spending hours for training to be ready for the Trisome Games, which is scheduled to take place between Oct. 19 and Oct. 23 in the Mediterranean province of Antalya.

The Trisome Games is a global competition for athletes with Down's Syndrome. Şevval will compete in judo and swimming in the upcoming games.

The life of one of Turkey's prominent painters, Devrim Erbil, will be featured in a film titled "The Sky was So Blue." The film, written and directed by Durmuş Akbulut, will start shooting on Aug. 21 in Istanbul and Balıkesir. 

Ford-Otosan, a joint venture between Ford Motor Co. and Turkey's Koç Holding, has unveiled its new tow truck, mostly developed domestically in Turkey by 1,500 Turkish engineers in five years.

A Turkish woman from the Aegean province of İzmir has become a firefighter, which is generally considered to be men’s job in the country. Devrim Özdemir, who became one of the first women to put on a firefighter’s uniform in Turkey, told her story to AFP for a news series for International Women’s Day on March 8.

Turkish journalist Hasan Cemal has denied allegations that he ?defamed the Turkish president,? during an appearance in an Istanbul court as part of two separate investigations launched into two of his articles published on the news website T24. 

An investigation has been launched into veteran journalist Hasan Cemal over his recent article titled "The Sultan in the Palace is culpable for the bloodshed," Cemal has told daily Hürriyet.

Cemal was summoned to testify on Sept. 17 and the probe was launched purportedly on the charge of "insulting the Turkish president" in his article published on news website T24 on Aug. 12.
