DHKP/C insurgency in Turkey

The police apprehended 40 individuals believed to have links to an attempted terrorist attack on an Istanbul courthouse, resulting in the death of a woman, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced.

Two people have been shot dead while trying to attack a courthouse in Istanbul on Feb. 6, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced.

The man and woman were killed during an attempt to attack a security checkpoint at the Çağlayan courthouse at 11:46 a.m. local time, the minister posted on social media.

This was announced today by Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, adding that two attackers were killed.
Yerlikaya said that an attempt was made to attack the checkpoint in front of the gate at aglayan Court in Istanbul and that two attackers, a woman and a man, were killed, reports Haber Turk.

Turkish security forces have neutralized four members of the Revolutionary Liberation Party-Front, or DHKP-C, a leftist militant group, near the Evros border, according to a report in the pro-government Yeni Safak newspaper. The report has not been independently confirmed.

Eleven suspected members of the Turkish far-left guerrilla group DHKP-C were on Friday charged with membership of a terrorist organization and weapons charges after a joint operation by the Hellenic Police's counterterrorism unit and the National Intelligence Service led to the discovery of a tunnel containing heavy artillery in Sepolia, near central Athens. 

Turkey on May 15 criticized Greece for acquitting nine DHKP-C militants who were arrested in 2017.     

Slain prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz has been commemorated at a ceremony held at the Istanbul Courthouse on March 29, where he was murdered in a terror attack in 2015.

An Istanbul court has ordered authorities to conduct an analysis at the scene where Berkin Elvan, a boy who died nine months after being hit by a police teargas canister during the 2013 Gezi Park protests, was shot.

Turkish security forces captured seven high-profile members of the illegal DHKP-C group in a counter-terror operation in Istanbul's Okmeydanı neighborhood early in the morning, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Feb. 26.

The far-left group DHKP/C's senior member Hatice Ruken Kılıç was captured on Feb. 2 in Istanbul following an operation by the Turkish authorities.
