Two remanded over car chase resulting in officer’s death
Two men have been remanded in custody after appearing before an investigating magistrate in Piraeus in relation to the fatal injury earlier this week of a 29-year-old officer of the Dias police motorcycle unit after a road chase.
The two men, aged 17 and 20, have been charged with joining and participating in a criminal organization.
Police officer fatally injured in car chase in western Attica
A 29-year-old police officer from the DIAS motorcycle unit was killed during a car chase in Aspropyrgos, western Attica, in the early hours of Monday.
Turkish national apprehended in Athens on international arrest warrant
Police have apprehended a 31-year-old Turkish man in the heart of Athens based on an international arrest warrant.
The arrest occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday as members of the DIAS motorcycle unit conducted a patrol on Treiber Square in the Metaxourgeio neighborhood.
No further information is currently available.

Greek shipowner Alexandros Agoudimos appeared before a Piraeus prosecutor on Friday following his arrest for debts to the state the previous day.
Agoudimos was detained during a random check by the police's motorcycle DIAS unit on Akti Posidonos in Piraeus on Thursday night, during which officers discovered he had been convicted for unpaid arrears.
