Differential diagnoses of depression

Sleep disorders and post-traumatic stress disorders have become much more common after the deadly earthquakes that ripped through Türkiye's south last month, experts say.

People in Turkey suffered psychological disorders, including depression and fear of death, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent lockdowns, a survey revealed on May 28. 

According to data from the Health Ministry, increasing number of people in Turkey suffer from depression, said Professor Mansur Beyazyürek. "Independent of their socio-economic level or political views Turks give signs of depression; this is across the board phenomenon," Beyazyürek told Hürriyet Daily News.

Air pollution suffocates the lungs and shortens life, but may also be associated with a higher risk of mental illness. This was announced by scientists who analyzed health information for millions of patients in the US and Denmark, according to Reuters and BTA.
