2016 was the year that virtual reality (VR) was successfully introduced to the consumer market. But industry giants Google, Apple, Microsoft and Facebook are already working towards creating augmented reality devices that some are touting as the “next big thing”.

Turkey remains top of Twitter's global censorship list, according to the latest Twitter Transparency report published on March 21.

According to the report, Turkey issued requests to the social media company to shut down 3,076 accounts. 

Google, which has seen a slew of companies withdraw ads after they appeared alongside extremist content, said on March 21 it was introducing new tools to give firms greater control.

"We know advertisers don't want their ads next to content that doesn't align with their values," Google's chief business officer Philipp Schindler said in a post on the internet giant's blog.

Turkey's Competition Board announced on March 6 that it had opened an investigation to determine whether Google has violated the country's competition law.

A moderate undersea quake, measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale, struck the area northwest of Pilio shortly before 3 p.m., seismologists said.
