Karpathos hit by 4.2 tremor

A moderate earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale rattled the Dodecanese island of Karpathos on Saturday morning, the Athens-based Geodynamic Institute reported.

The tremor occurred at 10.35 a.m., the institute said, adding that the quake's epicenter was located in the sea area 43 kilometers north of the island, at a depth of 10 kilometers under the seabed.

4.8 quake shakes Black Sea

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 magnitude struck Black Sea on Oct. 15 and was felt in Istanbul.

There were no reports of casualties or serious material damages.

The epicenter of the quake, which took place at 11:18 a.m. was 11.4 kilometers below the Earth's surface and occurred 192 kilometers northeast of Istanbul.

Mild quake hits Rhodes

An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck off the Dodecanese island of Rhodes, shortly before 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday, the Geodynamic Institute in Athens reported.

The tremor's epicenter was located 31 kilometers southwest of Rhodes.

Two people killed in Greek island earthquake

Two people died in a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that caused extensive damage on the island of Lefkada, in southwestern Greece, AP has reported.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the undersea quake occurred about 300 kilometers west of Athens and had a preliminary magnitude of 6.1. The USGS put the preliminary magnitude at 6.5.

5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Athens

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake shook Athens Tuesday morning.

There have been no reports of casualties, injured, or damage so far.

The earthquake struck at 4:09 a.m. in the Aegean Sea, with an epicenter located at a depth of 13 kilometers, 80 kilometers north of Athens, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center.
