Domestic pigeons

The Bayburt pigeon, one of the four most precious songbird species in Türkiye, has been fed by volunteers in the southeastern city as a cultural heritage for centuries.

The pigeon is a distinguished one with its voice, large body structure and color.

A pigeon that was to be put down by authorities in Australia after reportedly crossing the Pacific Ocean has been saved after officials found he was "highly likely" to be a local bird, a Turkish tumbler, the BBC News has reported.

A pigeon has been arrested by police in India on suspicion of being a spy from Pakistan.

The bird was seized on Thursday after being spotted carrying a "stamped message" on its body.

The message was written partly in Urdu, the official language of Pakistan. It also contained a Pakistani phone number, according to reports.

Messages from the front lines of war or from soldiers currently fighting were, and still are, sent home on a regular basis. Some of these come with hidden coded messages about enemy activities and some are just messages of love and support from a husband to a wife.

As night-time approaches in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa,  most of the alleyways of the city's old bazaar are emptying out, except for one.

A retired worker man has been scrupulously looking after a pigeon that was born blind in the Black Sea province of Amasya. 

Halil Kuru, who lives in Amasya's Taşova district, carries the blind pigeon named "Pamuk" (Cotton) everywhere he goes. He expressed his affection for pigeons and said that he loved keeping pigeons from a young age.
