Historical artifacts unearthed at the archeological site of Karahantepe in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, considered one of the important settlements of the Neolithic period, reveal the artistic talents of the people who resided there some 11,000 years ago.

Excavations at the Stone Hills in Turkey's southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, which hosts the first examples of settled life and social communities in the world, reveals new and stunning details that could rewrite the history of the region.

German Professor Klaus Schmidt, who brought the Göbeklitepe ancient settlement in the history of humanity with his works, was commemorated on the seventh anniversary of his death.

Turkey announced on June 27 that it has discovered 11 new hills around the famed ancient site of Göbeklitepe in southeastern Şanlıurfa province.

"We have [discovered] 11 more major hills on a 100-kilometer line around Göbeklitepe. Here, we will give the details for the first time, and now call it 12 hills," Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said at an event in Sanliurfa.

Mehmet Tarık Yıldız, an entrepreneur in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, makes the miniatures of "T" shaped stones unearthed in archaeological excavations in Göbeklitepe, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and sells them through social media.

Yıldız said Göbeklitepe miniatures are in demand from many countries, especially from America and Russia.
