Sofia Water Prices Set to Increase

Bulgaria's Kyustendil Enforces Strict Water-Use Rules Amid Drought Condition
According to a report by BNR, the mayor of Kyustendil, Ognyan Atanasov, has issued an order prohibiting the use of drinking water for purposes such as irrigation, watering green areas, and washing streets or cars. Violators of this order face fines of up to BGN 5,000, with repeat offenders required to pay the maximum penalty.

In response to hazardous contamination in the water supply network, the island of Zakynthos was declared in a state of emergency by the Secretary-General of Civil Protection Vasilis Papageorgiou on Monday.
Ruptured water pipelines in Bodrum 'pose disease risk'
Residents of touristic Bodrum town are being cautioned by an expert regarding potential health risks arising from ruptures in the main water transmission lines.
"The ruptures in the transmission and distribution lines bring a risk similar to the situation in drinking water in the earthquake region," said Ceyhun Özçelik, an associate professor from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University.

Kosovo Charges Two Company Officials Over Water Poisoning Case
The Peja/Pec Basic Prosecution charged two officials of the Kosovo water supply company Hidrodrini in Peja/Pec, related to water poisoning in Decan/Decani in July 2021.
Prosecutor Dorjan Juniku confirmed on Monday that they were charged with involvement in the poisoning of around 1,500 people in the Decan/Decani area.
