Updated rules for driving tests included in new bill
In a bid to do away with corruption and to better prepare candidate drivers, the Transport Ministry has drafted a bill that changes the way tests for driving licenses are conducted.

Driving licenses and plates being returned to motorists
Motorists who had their driving licenses revoked or number plates removed over minor traffic violations up until March 16 will be able to get them back, according to a decision made public on Tuesday by the Citizens' Protection Ministry.
Traffic police crack down on drunk driving, cellphone use
As part of a nationwide crackdown on drunk driving and on people using their phones while driving, traffic police said on Tuesday they registered more than 1,250 violations in the period between February 24 and March 1.
Out of 24,849 vehicles checked, police said 561 of the violations concerned phone use and 705 broke the law on driving under the influence of alcohol.
ROADPOL Operation: Over 3000 Violations Registered
Over 8,600 cargo vehicles were checked within the frameworks of the ROADPOL operation held last week in Bulgaria. Over 3,200 drivers were caught for various violations. 50 cargo vehicles were left without their registration plates BNR reported.

Driving Instructors Protest
Driving instructors from across the country with more than 400 cars joined a protest on January 14 in the centre of Sofia against a plan for new rules for conducting driver training courses.
From midday they blocked the traffic on Tsar Osvoboditel bulevrad in the section between Rakovski street and Dondukov boulevard.

Ministry of Interior: Around 30 000 Drivers Tested During TISPOL Operation
A special police operation against driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs took place in Bulgaria, said the press office of the Ministry of the Interior. The operation that was held from 9 to 15 December was part of a EU-wide campaign by European traffic police TISPOL.
