Pope Francis on Sept. 9 visited Medellin, epicenter of Colombia's narco wars of the 1980s and asked that God convert the hearts of the "drug assassins" who cut short so many young lives. 

On his penultimate day in Colombia, Francis flew to Medellin, the city northwest of the capital that was once notorious as the stomping grounds of drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Hollywood star Sean Penn interviewed notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman at a secret location soon after his escape from a maximum security prison in July.

Guzman had escaped from Altiplano prison in July and was recaptured on Friday after months of chasing him.

Mexico recaptured the world's top drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman in a pre-dawn shootout and chase through drains on Jan. 8, returning him to the same prison he escaped from six months ago, in a boost for the beleaguered government. 

Suspected drug dealer Simon Dutton, aged 38, has been arrested in Thessaloniki, Greece, as the “main player” of a major cocaine smuggling operation. The dealer from Bolton, Greater Manchestor, was on the list of Britain’s Most Wanted criminals and was captured following a joint operation by U.K.’s National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Hellenic police.

Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said on Friday that police had arrested several drugs trafficking suspects, including the two biggest drug lords in Serbia.

Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman cheated when he recently escaped from prison through a "record-long" tunnel, a Turkish ex-convict has reportedly said, claiming he and his friends had actually dug the longest tunnel ever 27 years ago.
