Daniel Horodniceanu, Catalin-Laurentiu Borcoman and Claudiu Dumitrescu are the three candidates shortlisted by the Romanian Ministry of Justice (MJ) for the office of European prosecutor.

Businessman Ovidiu Tender was sentenced on Monday by the justices with the Bucharest Court of Appeal to 12 years and 7 months in prison in the RAFO-CAROM criminal file, while businessman Marian Iancu has received 14 years in prison.

The High Court of Cassation and Justice confirmed on Monday the decision of General Prosecutor Tiberiu Nitu to reopen the investigation on the June 13-15 1990 miners' riot, involving former President Ion Iliescu.

The spokesperson of the Social Democrat Party (PSD) group of senators, Gabriela Firea, has announced on Tuesday that the Social Democrats have approved a series of modifications in the composition of some standing committees, the modifications being determined by the "naming of some senators in ministerial posts".
