Bulgaria to Observe Daylight Saving Time Change on Election Day

On October 27, election day in Bulgaria, clocks will be set back one hour as the country transitions to winter time. This means that voters will enjoy an extra hour of sleep on that day.

While smartphones, tablets, and computers will automatically adjust to the new time, some devices may require manual changes.

Athens’ festive season store opening hours announced

The proposed opening hours of stores in Athens for the 2023 Christmas holidays were announced this week by the Trade Association of Athens.

Starting on December 12, the association proposes that stores stay open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Shops will be also open on Sundays, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., on December 17, 24 and 31.

Swiss researchers declare new record for exact pi figure

Swiss researchers said on Aug. 16 they had calculated the mathematical constant pi to a new world-record level of exactitude, hitting 62.8 trillion figures using a supercomputer.

"The calculation took 108 days and nine hours" using a supercomputer, the Graubuenden University of Applied Sciences said in a statement.
