Ljubljana – Previous Foreign Minister Anže Logar announced on Monday he will run for president in the autumn election. He has the support of his party, the opposition Democrats (SDS).
Opposition rebukes some ministerial nominees, parts of coalition agreement
Ljubljana – The opposition has presented a critical take on some ministerial candidates in parliament on Wednesday while expressing fears about measures it sees as reminiscent of the socialist era.
Presenting the Democrat (SDS) deputy group’s position, Anže Logar, the outgoing foreign minister, noted that Robert Golob wanted to form a government quickly.
Calls for responsible innovation, digital development at Africa conference
Ljubljana – Addressing a virtual international conference promoting Africa-Europe ties, especially in innovation and digital development, President Borut Pahor said on Thursday digitalisation should be based on human rights, the rule of law and democratic society. Foreign Minister Anže Logar called for the development of cybersecurity.
Foreign minister starting three-day visit to India
Ljubljana/New Delhi – Foreign Minister Anže Logar will start a three-day visit to India on Monday to meet with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and take part in the Raisina Dialogue. He is also expected to hold talks with Indian President Narendra Modi, the Foreign Ministry said.

Slovenian, Croatian and Italian FMs discuss Ukraine, Bay of Piran
Zagreb – Slovenian Foreign Minister Anže Logar, Croatia’s Gordan Grlić Radman and Italy’s Luigi Di Maio met in Croatia on Monday as part of the trilateral cooperation effort for the north Adriatic Sea. They also discussed Ukraine and Logar and Grlić Radman talked about an “agreement about an agreement” on joint fishing in the border Bay of Piran.
Logar and Baerbock see EU values defended in Ukraine
Berlin – Russia’s invasion of Ukraine topped the agenda as Foreign Minister Anže Logar was hosted by his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock in Berlin on Monday. The pair agreed that EU values are being defended in Ukraine.
Slovenia revokes credentials of Russian honorary consuls
Ljubljana – Foreign Minister Anže Logar has signed decrees revoking the credentials of all Russian honorary consuls in Slovenia. “Russia no longer has honorary consuls in Slovenia,” he announced on Twitter on Sunday.
Logar calls for cooperation between EU and Indo-Pacific
Paris – Foreign Minister Anže Logar attended the first ministerial forum on cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region organised by the French EU presidency on Tuesday. He noted the importance of good and sustainable integration between Europe and the Indo-Pacific, and also held two bilateral meetings, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said.
FM Logar on Ukraine crisis: Only a set of bad options remains
Paris/Ljubljana – By recognising the independence of breakaway regions Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine, Russia has violated international law and principles, Foreign Minister Anže Logar said in a statement on the sidelines of an emergency meeting of EU foreign ministers on Tuesday. “Now we’re left with only a set of bad options,” he added.
PM Janša falls ill with coronavirus
Ljubljana – Prime Minister Janez Janša self-tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. He posted a photo of a positive test result on Twitter, saying he had all the symptoms typical of Covid-19, although mild.
Janša said that his family had successfully avoided coronavirus for two years until Tuesday, when his two sons had self-tested positive, while his test had been negative.
