Easter Saturday

On Easter Sunday the atmosphere of the Church switches gears, and instead of a focusing on death and sorrow, the Church is alive and resplendent with joy. Jesus is risen!

This is emphasized in a particular in many Eastern Churches. The week following Easter Sunday is called "Bright Week," and refers to the light that Jesus has brought into the world.

On Monday night churches around the country are to hold Easter Saturday services, which they had been unable to in March due to the lockdown. 

Athens metro and electric railway (ISAP) services will be less frequent from Good Friday to Tuesday, transport authorities said Tuesday.

There will be metro trains every seven to 10 minutes on Friday and Tuesday.

The Greek Orthodox Easter holidays and the coinciding of Labor Day with Easter Sunday will mean changes to museum and archaeological site opening hours, the Culture Ministry announced Monday.

Minority Catholics and Protestants mark Good Friday

BELGRADE -- Serbia's Catholic and Protestant Christians are today marking Good Friday, ahead of the most important Christian holiday, Easter.

The country's majority Orthodox Christian population will celebrate the holiday one week later, on April 12.
