Nearly 170 irregular migrants held in Turkey
Turkish security forces on Feb. 10 held 168 irregular migrants attempting to cross into Europe through the country's Aegean Balikesir province and northwestern Edirne province, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Turkish villagers give shelter to freezing migrants in Edirne
A group of migrants, some of whom were reportedly beaten and pushed back by the Greek police, took shelter at a tea house in a northwestern Turkish province, Demirören News Agency has reported.
Turkey nabs nearly 1,800 irregular migrants last week
A total of 1,797 irregular migrants were held across Turkey over the past week, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from security sources.
As many as 1,233 migrants were held in multiple operations carried out by gendarmerie forces in the northwestern Edirne, Kırklareli and Tekirdağ provinces, bordering Greece and Bulgaria.
Over 3,000 irregular migrants held in Turkey
More than 3,000 irregular migrants were held across Turkey over the past week, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from security sources.
Turkish gendarmerie forces held some 1,600 of the migrants in the northwestern province of Edirne, which borders Greece and Bulgaria.

South America native coypu floating in Edirne rivers
A semi-aquatic, rat-like creature has been spotted in Turkey's northwestern province of Edirne far from its native South America.
Farmers in Edirne complain that coypu, considered an invasive species, have come to the region through the Maritsa and Tundzha rivers when Bulgarian officials opened reservoir gates due to flooding risk.
11 Injured in a Shootout in Edirne
11 people were injured in a shootout at a cafe in the Turkish city of Edirne. 11 people who were sitting in the front were injured, the Sabah newspaper reported. They were taken to hospital.
Eyewitnesses say that a car with four people stopped in front of the cafe and fired at it.
