Bulgaria Ranks Last in EU for Lifelong Learning Participation
Eurostat's latest figures reveal that Bulgaria ranks last in the EU for lifelong learning, with only 1.4% of Bulgarians participating in educational activities last year. This figure is nearly ten times lower than the EU average, indicating a significant lack of interest among Bulgarians aged 25 to 64 in continuing education.
Bulgaria Lags in Reading Rates, Ranked 25th in Europe
Bulgaria ranks 25th in Europe for the number of people who read, according to a Eurostat study from 2022. With just under 40% of Bulgarians engaging in reading, the country is positioned fourth from the bottom in Europe, with Italy, Cyprus, and Romania demonstrating even lower interest in books.
DYPA training program involves universities too
Universities have had an active, albeit limited, role in the training programs run by the Public Employment Service (DYPA) throughout the previous period, and financed by the Recovery Fund.

Etiquette lessons to be included in education curriculum
High schools have been set to introduce "etiquette" lessons, where students will receive instruction on proper speech, attire, and conduct, aiming to foster appropriate behavior, while secondary school students will receive lessons in "good manners and courtesy."
More staff to be hired to spot learning disorders
The Education Ministry plans to bolster procedures for diagnosing learning disorders in children. Conducted as part of a postgraduate program at the University of Athens, the University of Thessaly and the University of West Attica, the research involved interviews with educators from various educational levels.
