Egyptian aircraft makes emergency landing in Athens

An Egyptian cargo aircraft which was forced to conduct an emergency landing at Athens International Airport on Friday morning due to a mechanical failure departed for its intended destination of Cologne a few hours later.
The pilot of the Egyptair Cargo flight 332 requested an emergency landing after seeing smoke in the cockpit. 

UK notifies Turkish officials it will lift electronics ban on flights from Turkey

The U.K. has informed Turkish officials that it would lift the electronics ban on flights from Turkey, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on July 20, citing diplomatic sources.

The sources said that Alan Duncan, Britain's minister for Europe and Foreign Minister Boris Johnson both called Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to tell him the ban was being lifted.

A French ship searching the Mediterranean has detected black box signals from a missing EgyptAir flight in the waters between the Greek island of Crete and the Egyptian coast, a development that could help solve the mystery of why the aircraft crashed into the sea last month, killing all 66 on board.

EgyptAir Hijacker Surrenders, Hostages Released

The suspected hijacker of EgyptAir Flight MS181 has surrendered to Cypriot authorities at Larnaca airport, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

The hijacker has emerged from the EgyptAir airrilner with his hands in the air and most of the passengers and crew who were on board had been freed, Reuters quoted the Cypriot authorities as saying.

Hijacking of EgyptAir Plane Due to Personal Motives, Not Terror Attack

Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades ruled out that the hijacking of the EgyptAir plane on Tuesday constituted a terrorist attack, saying that the hijacker seemed to have personal motives.

Instead of conducting the scheduled domestic flight MS181 between Alexandria and Cairo, the Airbus A320 landed at the airport in Larnaca after being hijacked and forced to divert to Cyprus.

EgyptAir plane hijacked to Greek Cyprus, most passengers freed

A man thought to be strapped with explosives hijacked an Egyptian plane on a flight between Alexandria and Cairo on March 29 and forced it to land in Greek Cyprus, Egyptian officials said.

After the EgyptAir plane landed at Larnaca airport, the hijacker released all the people onboard except four foreign passengers and the crew, EgyptAir said.
