22 killed in road accidents during first 3 days of Eid

Thousands of traffic accidents resulted in the death of 22 individuals across the country during the first three days of the Eid al-Adha holiday, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced.

More than 4,000 people were injured in road accidents between June 15 and 17, Yerlikaya said on June 18 on a social media post.

Preparations concluded as Türkiye set to mark Eid al-Adha

The country has completed its final preparations for the four-day Eid al-Adha amidst travel precautions and the hustle and bustle of shopping centers.

Eid al-Adha, or the feast of sacrifice, is set to begin on June 16, with the symbolic sacrifice of livestock as part of the rituals associated with the festival.

The coastal city faces a high demand for accommodation as the Eid holiday, which was extended to a nine-day period, coincides with summer vacations.

Greek islands in high demand for upcoming Eid holiday

The Mediterranean resort of Antalya and Greek Islands will be in high demand during the Eid al-Adha holiday in mid-June, with some 50,000 Turks expected to visit those islands, according to representative of the tourism industry.

The Eid al-Adha will take place between June 16-19, but people from the tourism sector expect the government to extend the holiday.
