Court releases four suspects in Turkish-Armenian journalist's murder case

An Istanbul court has ruled for the release of four suspects from the gendarmerie in the case into the killing of Turkish-Armenian journalistHrant Dink in 2007. Two gendarmerie officers who posed for a photo with Dink hitman Ogün Samast while holding a Turkish flag were among those released.

Turkey's struggle against Gülen requires great care

The owner of daily newspaper Sözcü, Burak Akbay, its website manager Mediha Olgun, and its İzmir correspondent Gökmen Ulu are all accused of "aiding a terror organization while not being a member of it." Olgun and Ulu have been behind bars since May 26 over alleged support of what prosecutors call the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), while Akbay is currently abroad. 

Journalists' trial over alleged Gülen links starts

Court finally accepts new indictment in Dink murder case

An Istanbul court has finally accepted a prosecutor's third indictment into the murder of Hrant Dink in which 51 suspects, including the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, former prosecutor Zekeriya Öz and former daily Zaman Editor-in-Chief Ekrem Dumanlı, are accused of murdering the prominent Armenian-Turkish journalist, Doğan News Agency reported May 29.

A prosecutor has sought three aggravated life sentences each for journalists Nazlı Ilıcak, Ahmet Altan and Mehmet Altan in a case into the media leg of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which widely believed to have been behind the July 15, 2016, failed coup attempt. 

24 soldiers face aggravated life terms in governor's office raid probe

Istanbul prosecutors have sought three aggravated life sentences for 24 soldiers accused of aiding putschist soldiers in a raid on the Istanbul Governor's Office on the night of July 15.

The prosecutors filed a 158-page indictment against the suspects on Dec. 22 and sent the document to an Istanbul court that follows cases of terror and organized crimes.
