Metro: Next extensions in Athens and benefitted areas
The Athens Metro is on track for a major upgrade, with plans underway for several exciting expansions and improvements to better connect the city. Among these, the most advanced project is the Line 2 extension to Ilion, adding about 4 km and three new stations: Palatiani, Ilion, and Agios Nikolaos.
Hundreds of millions of euros for Pireos and Elaionas
Important investment moves are under way to utilize the old industrial properties on Pireos Street, as well as more broadly at Elaionas, west of the center of Athens, which are expected to be transformed into places of residence, hospitality, work, leisure and culture, thereby giving significant surplus value to the wider area.
Fyli logistics center is now on its way
Within the next year, possibly by June, a contractor is expected for the construction of a business park in an area of 450,000 square meters in the Spilies area at Fyli, north of Athens, where approximately 400 transport companies will be relocated from Elaionas.

Construction of new central intercity bus station at Eleonas given green light
The Environment and Energy Ministry has given the green light for the construction of a new central station for intercity buses in the Eleonas district of Athens. The project received approval after the environmental terms were approved.
Athens metro heading out to western suburbs
The Infrastructure Ministry has announced the tender for a 4-kilometer extension of Line 2 of the Athens metro from Anthoupoli westward to Ilion with three new stations: Palatiani (at the junction of Thivon Avenue and Kappadokia Street), Ilion (Thivon & Eleon) and Agios Nikolaos (Agios Nikolaos & Paramythia).

Suspected jihadi remanded, recants earlier confession
The 27-year-old Syrian national arrested at a migrant camp in Athens last week, who was remanded in custody on Tuesday by an Athens prosecutor, recanted an earlier confession in which he admitted to being a member of the ISIS terrorist group and appearing in a 2014 video of the group.
Top court overrules objections to crematorium in Eleonas
The Council of State, Greece's top administrative court, rejected two injunctions against the creation of a crematorium in the district of Eleonas, west Attica, in two separate rulings announced on Friday.
EC president von der Leyen due in Athens on Thursday with home affairs commissioner
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is to visit Greece on Wednesday with Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Julia Margareta Johansson to follow up on pledges of EU support announced last week during the EC president's visit at the outset of the crisis at the Greek-Turkish lander border.
Viohalco development at Elaionas
The government has approved a project planned by listed group Viohalco for the creation of a cluster for culture, recreation and accommodation on a plot of 65,000-70,000 square meters at Elaionas, west of central Athens. It forms part of a set of four investment projects that a committee of ministers approved this week, adding up to some 800 million euros.
