Elections to the European Parliament

Seats held by far-right parties in the European Parliament are expected to exceed those held by the center-right European People's Party (EPP), led by outgoing Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, according to polls published Wednesday by Politico.

According to a recent poll by "Politico," far-right Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) may outnumber those from the European People's Party (EPP) in the new European Parliament.

Around 400 million European Union citizens go to the polls next month to elect members of the European Parliament, or MEPs, in one of the biggest global democratic events.

Far-right parties are seeking to gain more power amid a rise in the cost of living and farmers' discontent, while the wars in Gaza and Ukraine are on the minds of voters.

In anticipation of the upcoming elections for members of the European Parliament (MEPs) from Bulgaria, scheduled for June 9 this year, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has unveiled a crucial update to voting regulations.

Bucharest, Oct 22 /Agerpres/ - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced on Monday evening having released the complete list and the interactive map of the 835 polling stations that will be organized abroad for the presidential election this November; the list and the interactive map are available at http://www.mae.ro/node/49479.

Romania's Foreign Minister Ramona Manescu is urging Romanians abroad to register with the voting lists, showing that taking space under lease for polling stations that were very crowded in the May 26 European elections is a working option.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Tuesday promulgated a new law making it easier to vote abroad, saying it would give "Romanians abroad the right to vote and not wait for hours in queues and fearing that they will not be able to vote before the ballot boxes close".

All 441 polling stations opened abroad are operational and working normally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Sunday. "Apart from isolated technical incidents that were quickly remedied, in the early morning hours all activities in the diaspora polling stations are running within the normal parameters.

Voters in 21 EU countries cast ballots on Sunday as elections for the European Parliament reached a crescendo in the Western world's largest democracy.
