Top court denies appeal of former HDP lawmakers
The Constitutional Court has denied the individual applications of two former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) lawmakers appealing for the reversal of a parliamentary ruling that removed their status as MPs.
The general assembly of the Constitutional Court unanimously rejected the individual application of Faysal Sarıyıldız and Tuğba Hezer on Sept. 7.

European lawmaker calls for Turkey to 'respect' detained deputies
Council of Europe Group of the Unified European Left Chairman Tiny Kox on Aug. 25 sent a letter to Turkish Parliament Spokesperson İsmail Kahraman urging "respect" for the rights of elected lawmakers currently in prison.

Police catch father who stabbed two sons to death, wounded third in Istanbul
Istanbul police apprehended on Aug. 9 a man who stabbed two of his sons to death and wounded the third early in the morning.
The man, identified as Aslan Güleryüz, reportedly engaged in a brawl with his three sons at their residence in the Yavuztürk neighborhood of the Üsküdar district.

A court in the Central Anatolian province of Eskişehir has ordered the arrest of three suspects for the armed assault attempt targeting Eskişehir Mayor Yılmaz Büyükerşen on July 29.
Earlier, five suspects had been referred to court over the attempted attack.

The opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has started its "conscience and justice watch" in Istanbul's Kadıköy district with the participation of several lawmakers.
The Kurdish issue-focused HDP started its watch on Aug. 1 in Kadıköy's Yoğurtçu Park after spending a week in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
