Bulgaria Sees 3% Rise in New Car Registrations Amid Shifting EU Market Trends

New car sales in the European Union saw a modest recovery in October, rising 1.1% year-on-year after consecutive declines in August and September. Registrations reached 866,397 units, buoyed by gains in Spain (up 7.2%) and Germany (up 6%), despite decreases in France (down 11.1%) and Italy (down 9.1%).

Number of EVs on Türkiye’s roads exceeds 150,000

The number of electric vehicles on Türkiye's roads increased significantly in the past 10 months, reaching more than 150,000 as of the end of October.

The fast expansion of the EV market was mostly due to domestically produced Togg, which delivered more than 40,000 vehicles in the last one and a half year.

In Bulgaria, 26,945 new cars were registered during the first seven months of the year, reflecting a 28.4% growth compared to the same period in 2023, as reported by BGNES. This positions Bulgaria as one of the leaders in market growth, maintaining its strong performance with an annual growth rate of 30.8% in the first half of the year.

Electric vehicle sales expected to almost double this year

The size of Türkiye's electric car market is expected to nearly double this year as sales are forecast to reach 120,000 units.

Last year, 72,179 EVs were sold in the country, pointing to an 833 percent increase from 2022, which made Türkiye the fastest-growing EV market in Europe. In terms of the number of EV sales, Türkiye ranked 8th in Europe.
