Share of new electric cars doubles, still lags the EU
Newly bought electric vehicles doubled their share in Greece in the first half of 2023 but are still lagging behind EU purchases, suggesting that the incentives provided by the government may not be enough.
In Greece, 4.60% of newly purchased cars were battery-rechargeable, compared to 12.90% in the EU.

Walking has become practically impossible on Istanbul's Princes' Islands, where thousands of people flock to daily throughout the summer, since the number of unlicensed battery-powered vehicles on the islands' streets are starting to soar.
Islanders complained to local media about the dramatic increase in the number of these vehicles.

A total of 112,459 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) were sold in July, marking a robust 115.4 percent increase from a year ago.
The numbers pointed to the highest ever July sales.

Ford lifted its full-year forecast on July 27 after quarterly earnings nearly tripled on strong vehicle pricing in conventional autos that offset losses in electric vehicles (EV).
Togg to introduce new model next year: Minister
Türkiye's first electric carmaker Togg will introduce a new Sedan model to the market toward the end of 2024, Industry and Technology Minister Fatih Kacır has said.
Every one and a half or two years, new models will be launched, Kacır stated in a televised interview on private broadcaster CNN Türk.

Togg to produce 1 mln vehicles by 2032: Minister
Türkiye's first electric carmaker Togg will produce a total of 1 million vehicles by 2032, Industry and Technology Minister Fatih Kacır has said.
Some 97 percent of those vehicles will be sold to consumers while the public institutions will buy the remaining 3 percent, the minister told a group of journalists.

Türkiye seeking to lure more foreign carmakers: Minister
Talks are ongoing with carmakers from Europe and Asia, including China, to lure more investments into Türkiye's automotive sector, Industry and Technology Minister Fatih Kacır has said.
"We are hoping that at least one of them will announce an investment decision by the end of the year," he said.
Avant Car plans to continue expanding EV sharing
Avant Car runs Slovenia's biggest electric car sharing system, Avant2Go, with a fleet of 500 fully electric vehicles. Further expansion is planned, says director Matej Čer.
Additional locations and vehicles will be added in Slovenia to ensure broad coverage and meet the needs of users, Čer told the Slovenian Press Agency.

Togg market leader in C-SUV segment
Togg, Türkiye's first indigenous electric car maker, sold 808 T10X model vehicles as of the end of June, making the company the market leader in the electric C-SUV segment.
The company delivered 808 vehicles in May and June and captured a share of 28.9 percent in the local C-SUV market.
Togg's T10X model's share in the overall SUV market was 15 percent.
