Electrical energy in Kosovo

The Kosovo Energy Regulatory Office, ERO, confirmed on Monday that after analysing an application from Drustvo Elektrosever to supply power to Serb-run northern Kosovo, a commission will submit the final decision to the board.

"The review of an application may last up to 60 days since the day when the application is considered complete," ERO cautioned BIRN.

Electricity network system operator KOSTT began to operate independently on Tuesday in a newly-established regulatory area covering the whole of Kosovo, including the Serb-majority north of the country, Kosovo's Foreign Ministry announced.

Guri Shkodra, a spokesperson for the energy supply company, KEDS, said Kosovo is facing an energy crisis this winter as a result of June's incident in the Kosovo A power plant.
