Koper – In Saturday’s commentary headlined Patients Not the Only Ones to Be Blamed for Waiting Times, the newspaper Primorske Novice says that the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) is also to be blamed for long waiting times, having done nothing to ensure a single system of referrals registration at national level.

Amazon is offering a new software that can mine medical records for information, the Wall Street Journal reports. The software can reportedly scan digitized patient records and pull out data, a service that healthcare professionals can use when considering treatments and hospitals can use to cut costs.

Sofia Municipality presents the new health portal, which will collect the information for all municipal medical institutions on the territory of Sofia, Nova TV reported.

Through the portal, patients will be able to make appointments with specialists and check the results of tests.

There are two effective ways of controlling the healthcare system - through the patients and the electronic system, the best way is on the part of the patient. This is what the manager of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) Prof. Kamen Plochev told BNT.

He added that the patients should be able to report violations, and to monitor electronically the procedures they had.
