Approximately 17,000 athletes competed this year in the Olympic Games in Paris. However, only a few left with their heads held high, knowing they made their entire country proud.

A short while ago, Greece’s Olympic team returned to the country on an AEGEAN flight from Paris.

Greece secured 8 medals at the Paris Olympic Games, including 1 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze. The only gold medal was won by Miltos Tentoglou in long jump, who drew all the photographers’ attention.

Gymnast Lefteris Petrounias earned a medal for the third straight Olympics in the men's rings Sunday, a bronze.

Petrounias has also won gold in 2016 and another bronze in 2021.

The 34-year-old advanced to the final with a score of 14.800 points for his routine. "I've noted my mistakes and will make the necessary adjustments," the Greek champion said after his performance.

After Petrounias’ performance, the Prime Minister spoke about the much-discussed Opening Ceremony from the previous day and the sports he plans to watch.

On the sidelines of the Greek champion’s competition, Mr. Mitsotakis met with the wife of U.S. President Joe Biden, Jill, in the stands, where they exchanged a warm greeting.

Greece and Canada have faced each other 13 times at the men’s level, with the “official favorite” (Greece) holding 7 victories. Their most recent encounter was in Victoria on June 29, 2021, where the hosts of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament emerged victorious with a score of 97-91.

With 15,000 points, Petrounias wins 7th gold medal in Rimini

Greek artistic gymnast Lefteris Petrounias has clinched the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics with a score of 15.200.

Chinese gymnast Liu Yang earned the gold medal with a score of 15.500 and You Hao, also of China won the silver with 15.300.
