Health Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis is planning to make health check-ups mandatory for all Greek citizens according to a report in daily newspaper Eleftheros Typos. Those who neglect getting checks for the four different types of cancer will face heavy penalties.

Cartoonist Ilias Skoulas, 87, dies
Greek cartoonist Ilias Skoulas died on Thursday at the age of 87.
Born in Crete in 1927, Skoulas began his career as a political cartoonist at the Anexartitos Typos daily. He subsequently worked for a variety of newspapers including Kathimerini, Mesivrini, Acropolis, Apogevmatini, Ethnos and Eleftheros Typos, as well as several magazines.

Journalist's arrest over criticism of Independent Greeks MP condemned
Journalists union ESIEA condemned late on Sunday a decision to arrest Eleftheros Typos journalist Despina Kontaraki after she was sued by Independent Greeks MP Rachil Makri.
