Steel plant sale negotiations "not easy"
BELGRADE -- The business plan for Zelezara Smederevo steel plant needs be in line with the agreement with the IMF and with EU rules, says Zeljko Sertic.
The Serbian economy minister at the same time "stressed that he is optimistic about reaching consensus on a strategic partnership with U.S. steel firm Esmark," Tanjug reported.

BELGRADE - The business plan for Zelezara Smederevo steel plant needs be in line with the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and with EU rules, Serbian Economy Minister Zeljko Sertic has said, stressing that he is optimistic about reaching consensus on a strategic partnership with US steel firm Esmark.
Serbian prime minister expects EU support for Zelezara
BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has said that he expects that the EU will support the takeover of the state-owned steel plant Zelezara Smederevo.
Vucic said that he expects that the agreement with Esmark Europe, part of U.S.-based Esmark Inc, will be signed by February 1, after the restructuring plan for the Serbian mill is approved by the EU.

It also "signaled talks aimed at concluding the contract, the press office stated," Tanjug said in its report.

BELGRADE -- A total of three bids arrived in a tender for the privatization of Zelezara Smederevo and only one offer, by US company Esmark Inc., was valid.
This was announced on Friday by Bojan Bojkovic, chair of a commission set up to implement a strategic partnership model for the privatization of the Serbian steelworks.
