Colombian President Ivan Duque said on Oct. 12 that his government is aware of cases of so-called "Havana Syndrome" at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, but is leaving the investigation to Washington.

The US has ordered 15 Cuban diplomats to leave the country. US President Donald Trump's administration will ask Cuba to reduce its diplomatic staff to Washington by 60 percent, the BBC said.

The Trump administration is considering closing down the recently reopened U.S. Embassy in Havana following a string of unexplained incidents harming the health of American diplomats in Cuba, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says.

US President Barack Obama arrived in Cuba on Sunday, becoming the first acting US president to visit the island since 1928.

Shortly after his arrival, Obama delivered a speech at the reopened US embassy in Havana, where he identified the visit as "historic".

Top US diplomat John Kerry will meet with Cuban dissidents during his historic trip to Cuba, he said on August 12. 

The United States and Cuba quietly ushered in a new era of post-Cold War relations on July 20, formally restoring diplomatic ties severed more than five decades ago and re-establishing embassies in each other's capitals.

The US and Cuba are to announce on Wednesday a move to reopen diplomatic missions in each other's capitals for the first time in over 50 years, international media outlets report.

This is a major step in the renewal of diplomatic ties which was initiated by US President Barack Obama also confirmed by Cuban couterpart Raul Castro in December 2014.
