CITUB Expert: Switching from Remote Situation Back to Office Will Be Real Challenge
Todor Kapitanov, labour law expert and National Secretary of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria, predicts that returning to the office will be the next major issue. Re-adjusting to the physical workplace will be just as hard as getting used to teleworking because employees have acquired new habits, Kapitanov told BTA.
Average net wage up by almost 7% last year
Ljubljana – The average monthly wage in Slovenia in 2020 reached EUR 1,856.20 gross, which is 5.8% more than in 2019 nominally and 5.9% higher in real terms. The average net wage was EUR 1,208.65 or 6.6% and 6.7% higher nominally and in real terms, respectively, the Statistics Office (SURS) reported on Monday.

Court recognizes contract work for employee, cancels dismissal
A lower court in Athens sided with an employee who worked with successive fixed-term employment contracts in a kindergarten from 2007 to 2018, ruling that these contracts constitute a single contract of indefinite duration.
The court argued that, in this case, the woman covered continuous needs of the employer which did not justify the signing of fixed-term contracts.
Gov't reimburses to companies 41.5 pct of salary of employees returning from furlough
The Government will reimburse employers, for a period of 3 months, a percentage of 41.5 pct of the monthly gross wage of each worker that has his/her previously suspended work contract reactivated, a release sent on Friday to AGERPRES by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, reads.
Minimum Double Remuneration for Work during the Christmas Holidays
Employers are required to pay a minimum double remuneration to employees who work on an official holiday, such as today's December 25, recalled by the Executive agency "General Labor Inspectorate".
The holidays are December 24, 25, and 26, and January 1, 2020 for New Year's Eve.
CITUB Wants Bulgaria to Ratify the Convention against Workplace Violence
The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Bulgaria (CITUB) sent a letter to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy a few days ago, asking the government and the National Assembly to ratify Convention 190 of the International Labor Organization, which deals with non-violence and harassment in the workplace, announced BTA.
Greek private sector workers to strike on Wednesday
Greek private sector unions will stage a 24-hour strike on Wednesday to protest against changes to labor laws planned by the newly-elected conservative government.
Protesting workers and pensioners are expected to rally and march in central Athens around midday.
1,752 employees voluntarily leave civil service
1,430 employees at the central level and 322 at the local level applied for a public call for a consensual termination of employment with severance pay.
The heads of authorized bodies will decide on the requests of interested employees for a consensual termination of employment by September 30, 2019.
