The Enclave

In August 1995, German photographer Phillip von Recklinghausen returned to Srebrenica, where he had photographed people during the siege of the enclave by Bosnian Serb forces a couple of years earlier.

He tried to find people whose pictures he had taken back in 1993, but couldn't.

The government of the Netherlands on Thursday offered one-off payments of 5,000 euros each to members of the Dutchbat UN peacekeeping battalion who served in Srebrenica in July 1995 but failed to prevent the massacres of Bosniak men and boys by Bosnian Serb forces.

Emir Suljagic fell "hopelessly in love" with his first-ever girlfriend in the summer of 1992, when the place in which he lived at the time - Srebrenica - was under siege.

"I used to walk from Srebrenica to [the nearby village of] Potocari every second day to see her and spend some time with her. I did not mind going back at midnight or 1am during the war," he recalled.

THE HAGUE -- A Dutch court has ruled that the Netherlands was responsible for the deaths of more than 300 people in Srebrenica, Bosnia, in 1995.
