Ljubljana – The government confirmed on Thursday a bill that extracts the field of gas supply from the umbrella energy law and regulates it independently, with the additional provisions dealing with emergency measures and implementation of the solidarity mechanism of aid to EU member states in the case of gas supply disruptions.

Turkey's energy import bill declined by 4.2 percent from 2018 to stand at $41.18 billion in 2019, state-run Anadolu Agency calculated from Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) data.

In 2018, Turkey spent some $43 billion on energy imports.

Government Approves Performance Report for 2014-2020 Energy Efficiency Plan.

The government approved today the annual implementation report for 2018 of the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan 2014-2020, which states that 6167 GWh of energy have been saved over four years.

Turkey produced 89% of its electricity from domestic and renewable resources on June 5, according to statistics from Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.     

The Association was established in June 2018 and became an observer in the European Federation of Energy Law Associations.

It is interesting that even many EU member states are not covered by this kind of professional organization in the energy industry.

Turkey has shaken hands with the World Bank for a $200 million resource for energy efficient investments in the public sector, Energy Minister Fatih Dönmez has said.

The European Commission will review a decision of Bulgaria to stop exporting electricity on January 13, an official has said.

The announcement follows Bulgaria's decision to renew exports of electricity as of the small hours of Thursday.

Exports were halted amid harsh winter conditions in January.

The sixth World Forum on Energy Regulation will gather energy regulators from all around the world in Istanbul later this year, Alberto Pototschnig, director of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators, said Jan. 28.
