BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic received the CEO of Greece's Copelouzos Group, Dimtris Copelouzos, on Wednesday to discuss cooperation in the renewables sector and natural gas supplies.

Public Power Corporation's (PPC) goal is to become the leading player in the field of clean energy and critical infrastructure in Southeast Europe, creating an energy corridor that will add value to all countries, the president and CEO of PPC, Giorgos Stassis, said while speaking at the Ziarul Financiar Power Summit 24 in Bucharest on Tuesday.

Domestic industries have to fight an unequal battle compared to their European competitors to maintain production, which is affected by the increased costs of the energy transition and competition from third countries.

The European Commission has approved a €150-million Greek scheme to support energy-intensive companies facing increased energy costs in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine.

The utilization of renewables and upgrading transmission infrastructure for more renewables are Türkiye's major areas of focus, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said, stressing that the country plans to invest $10 billion in the grid by 2030.

On 6-8th February 2024, the international renewables investment conference Energy Week Black Sea will take place in Bucharest, Romania.

Well-known for its role in the gas industry, the Black Sea region will be once again brought together to foster the deployment of renewables and encourage the transition to secure, clean and affordable energy.

Environment and Energy Minister Thodoros Skylakakis said on Monday that the green transition constitutes a major opportunity for Greece to become an energy exporter and is directly connected with the country's energy security, addressing the conference "Energy Security and Green Growth," organized by the ministry.
