Lecturer sues coffee shop for tripping over sleeping dog
In a first of its kind incident, a lecturer has sued the owners of a coffee shop, where he tripped over a dog sleeping at the entrance and broke his arm.
Mahmut Şenol, who is also a journalist, filed a lawsuit for compensation of 31,000 Turkish Liras ($1,700).
Turkey names Stefan Kuntz as new head coach
Germany's Under-21 coach Stefan Kuntz is set to take over the reins of the Turkish national team, the Turkish Football Federation announced on Sept. 19.
The 58-year-old, who played in the Germany side that won the 1996 European Championship, will sign on Sept. 20 at 1200 GMT at the Riva Hasan Doğan national team training center.

National football team part ways with head coach Şenol Güneş
The Turkish Football Federation confirmed on Sept. 10 that they had parted ways with national team manager Şenol Güneş in the wake of poor results.
Güneş, whose contract ended by mutual consent, was under fire from sports officials and fans alike after Turkey suffered a huge 6-1 loss to the Netherlands on Sept. 7 in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying game.

Turkish manager expects tight match in EURO 2020 opener
Turkey expects a tough match against Italy in Friday's UEFA EURO 2020 opener in Rome, the Turkish national football team manager said on June 10.
"I expect tomorrow's match will be in a high level technically, tactically and physically," Şenol Güneş said in a pre-match press conference, referring to both teams' high concentration and challenging playing style on the pitch.

Irish-Kuwaiti tourist acquitted in street brawl case in Turkey
An Irish-Kuwaiti tourist, who made headlines in August 2015 when video footage of his brawl with shopkeepers in Istanbul went viral online, was acquitted in the case by a Turkish court on July 12.
The Istanbul court acquitted Irish-Kuwaiti tourist Mohammed Fadel Dobbous, a former boxer, saying the case was a legitimate incident of self-defense so the suspect should not be punished.

Istanbul's Beşiktaş clinches its 15th title
Defending champion Beşiktaş clinched the Turkish Super League title after beating a relegated Gazinantepspor 4-0 away only one week before the ending late on May 28.
This was the Black Eagle's second domestic victory in a row under coach Şenol Güneş.
Beşiktaş was excited to achieve its 15th league title to put a third star on its jersey.
