Council of Europe warns Turkey over death penalty plans
The Council of Europe warned Turkey against re-establishing the death penalty on Oct. 30.
"Executing the death penalty is incompatible with membership of the Council of Europe," the 47-member organization, which includes Turkey, tweeted a day after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said his government would ask parliament to consider reintroduction.
Ankara gets new main station for high speed trains
A new station for high speed trains in the Turkish capital Ankara was inaugurated on Oct. 29.
According to Turkish State Railways (TCDD), the country's railway operations authority, the new station is capable of providing services to 50,000 passengers daily.

Air commander denies claims about 50 buried warplanes
A Turkish air force commander has denied allegations that 50 German-made warplanes in the inventory of the Turkish Air Forces (TSK) were buried right after World War II.
Turkey sees no delay in TurkStream
Turkey does not foresee a delay in the scheduled timetable for the TurkStream natural gas pipeline project between Russia and Turkey under the Black Sea, Turkish Energy Minister Berat Albayrak said on Oct. 26.
"There is a plan to start construction in 2017 and to complete by 2019. We don't foresee any delay for its completion," Albayrak told Anadolu Agency.
