Nieman Fellows in the class of 2015 at Harvard University have selected prominent Turkish journalist and writer Hasan Cemal as this year's recipient of the Louis M. Lyons Award for Conscience and Integrity in Journalism.

Turkish company offers Ottoman domain names
Turkey's recent plans to revive the Ottoman language have found a surprising new outlet, as an Istanbul-based company is now offering Ottoman-related domain names and hosting services.
"Catch the Ottoman trend," reads one advertisement, featuring a Turkish sultan sitting on a sofa telling the viewer to "Register in no time."

Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006, has denounced what he described as a climate of "fear" in his country, in an interview published in daily Hürriyet on Dec. 7.
"The worst thing is that there's a fear. I find that everyone is afraid; it's not normal ... Freedom of expression has fallen to a very low level," Pamuk said.
