Veteran actor Genco Erkal dies at 86

Veteran theater actor Genco Erkal, the founder of Dostlar Theater in Ankara, died of leukemia on July 31 at the age of 86. He was known as the "master of one-man plays."

Dostlar Theater shared the news on its official account in the early hours of the morning with an emotional message, saying, "Goodbye my friends, goodbye…"

A documentary film, produced by ENKA Sanat and tells the career and artistic life of Genco Erkal, the master of the Turkish theater, was screened for the first time on Aug. 16, with the participation of Erkal and producer and director of the film, Selçuk Metin.

The documentary will be screened at ENKA Open Air Theater again on Sept. 6.
