An Indonesian diplomat died after feeling discomfort at Ankara airport in Turkey, a diplomatic source said.

Istanbul's Atatürk Airport saw the highest increase in passenger numbers in July out of all five major European airports, the European airport trade body announced on Sept. 13. 

Other airports in Turkey also showed significant increase in passenger numbers in July, including Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen, the Antalya Airport and Ankara's Esenboğa, according to the report.

The number of passengers passing through Turkish airports rose by 7.4 percent year-on-year in the first seven months of 2017, the country's airport authority stated on Aug. 7.        

Ankara's Esenboğa Airport has sustains its carbon emissions at the optimum level through energy efficiency, its operator said in a written statement on Dec. 19. 

TAV Construction, which has gained plaudits for its projects in the Middle East and Gulf Region, was named the world's largest company in airport construction for 2016, the company said in a statement on Dec. 16. 

Istanbul Atatürk Airport, Ankara Esenboğa Airport and İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, all run by Turkish airport operator TAV, are among the world's most environmentally friendly, the company said in a written statement to mark its Sustainability Report.

Turkey's TAV has opened talks with Saudi Oger to buy half of the latter's shares in a company that runs Medina's international airport, it said in a written statement late on Sept. 6. 

The United Kingdom's travel advice to Turkey was updated to include an explosion at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport that killed one and wounded another, British Ambassador to Turkey Richard Moore has announced on his Twitter account.

The number of passengers through Istanbul?s Sabiha Gökçen Airport increased by 17 percent to 12.6 million in the first half of the year compared to the same period the previous year, the company said in a written statement on July 14. 

Turkey's largest airport operator TAV has announced that its subsidiaries have placed bids on ground services tenders opened by Turkish Airlines (THY) in eight airports across the country.
